Here are some of our 70th birthday party ideas.
We had paper 50's cars for the center pieces filled with gum and candy from the 50th, Mary Janes, gummy burgers, and other nostalgic candy, and then we placed the cars on large records.

We also had red and white carnations in vases. All the girls in our family dressed in poodle skirts, and I dressed up as Marilyn Monroe. All the guys in my family dressed in white t-shirts, white shoes, jeans rolled up, and some even slicked their hair, including my dad.
We played music from the 50's, had a slide show of my mom's life.

Two of my nephews dessed up as diner guys and served the burgers and hot dogs in black and white checkered waxed paper, along with french fries and other 50's-themed food, complete with a diner mural/candy shop for the background, red-checkered boxes for the fries, red and white checked table clothes, and gerber daisies in bobby socks and sadle shoes for decoration, and they were adorable 70th birthday party ideas.

We also made another sign that said "Vonnie's Diner" (my mom's nickname), with prices for the food like fries 5 cents, etc.
We had older looking containers for other food like licorice, and a very cute pink poodle cake.

My two neices served rootbeer floats at the rootbeer stand which included huge carboard rootbeer floats for the background; we used that spray foam for the rootbeer foam.

We had huge strawberry sodas throughout which were made out of cardboard with white balloons for the whipcream, a huge straw, and even a red cherry (balloon) on top.

We had two post stands with records on them as the guests walked in.

We also had a cardboard duplicate of my mom in a poodle skirt and made a skirt for her and dressed her up right before she walked in the door for her surprise party.
We held a bubble blowing contest, and best costume contest, and some of the ladies that knew mom back then come up and share a few stories.

We had another mural of the car my mom used to own in the 50th' and took people's photos in it. My belonged to the "calling all girls club" when she was young, so we made a "calling all girls club" sign, with some dress-up clothes and some photos of her when she was a teen and young adult.

But, the best part was when Elvis showed up in his blue seude shoes.

He put on an awesome show, complete with security guards and the girls dancing in the background. He even thew his sweaty scarf.
Hope you enjoy these 70th birthday party ideas!
