Train Cake

Train Cake

Choo Choo!! Baby boy aboard. The theme we went for my baby shower was choo choo trains. Everything was blue, white, and trains.

We started with choo choo train plates, napkins, and tablecloth. From there we matched solid blue tablecloths and cups. Then we chose train centerpieces and a train balloon mixed with solid blue and white balloons to decorate the tables.

If it hadn't been my shower I would have made a train theme diaper cake with as many choo choo and blue baby items as I could find. We also couldn't forget the confetti in matching colors.

We sent out a train baby shower invitations. We had the bakery create a train cake to match the plates by taking a napkin to them. They did a great job. We also made train sugar cookie favors. I rolled out sugar cookie dough and used a train and a star shaped cookie cutters.

I decorated them with blue, white, and lime decorations, placed them in a clear treat bag, and labeled them with train and star cut outs saying, "Thank you for coming." I cut the shapes out using a die cut machine that pretty much any teacher would have access to.

To make the shower a success we had finger foods. We had a fruit and a vegetable trays, shrimp and crab dip served with chips, chicken salad and ham salad sandwiches, and cheese cubes. To stick with the train theme we could have used train cookie cutters to make train sandwiches, but we just ordered the sandwiches to save on time. We had punch, soda, and coffee to drink.

We also had games.

My favorite was baby pictionary. We also played guess mommy's tummy size and telephone. A prize was given out for the person who got closest to my tummy size. Luckily my host had purchased extra prizes because we had a three way tie. I am going to send out thank you notes with trains on them.

We used center pieces that matched the plates. There was a set at Paper Shack. We tied the balloons to star shaped balloon weights.

Your Ideas are absolutely great, I am planning a baby shower for my daughter soon and her theme is also trains. I plan on using the same plates, napkins as you , Please tell me what you used as a centerpiece, and what if anything did you use for tying the balloons to.
Thanks
