Coolest School Year Eve Party

I decided to throw them a back to school party the day before school starts, which we were calling 'School Year's Eve.' The kids could celebrate the last day of summer as well as get excited for the school year that begins the next day. We decided to throw a party that combines the festivity and glam of a true New Year’s Eve Party, as well as the fun anticipation for a new year.
The kids helped make centerpieces of of crayons and a banner for the party. They also made a 'ball drop' pinata that we filled with school supplies. We served kid friendly appetizers and 'sparkling' cider for a true New Years Eve feel.
When kids first arrived they worked on a School Years Eve time capsule. I had them decorate pringles cans with paper and stickers and fill the can with things that represented themselves and the year ahead. We included a picture of them that day and then taped the can shut with instructions not to open until the end of the school year. The kids also filled our 'School Year's Resolutions' which were goals they wanted to work towards that year.
As a final surprise at the end of the party, I asked the kids new teacher to stop by for a bit. A few of the girls hadn't met her yet and it helped put them at ease for the next day, as well as get to know her. The kids had a wonderful time and this is a tradition we plan on repeating every year!
