The paper for your invitation is a great place to start with your cowboy party theme. To make cards that look like they are made from old leather, cut open a brown paper bag. Then, soak it in water and let it dry. Once the paper is completely dry, cut it into rectangles large enough to make your invitations. Because writing on the 'leather' can be difficult, cut white card stock for the inside. If you would like to make the white card stock look aged, tear the straight edge, dip it in tea, and singe the edges with a candle.

Now, how about rope lettering for the front? Mix some white glue with some yellow craft paint and scrape it into a sandwich bag. Try to keep it to one side of the bag. Then, if you cut the very tip off the corner, you will be able to 'write' in a fine line.

On the front of the cowboy birthday party card, use a pencil to draw out your headline. You could say something like, "Our little cowpoke (your child's name) is turning (X years old)." You can then follow the lettering with the glue. Once the glue has started to dry and still has that tacky feeling, touch it lightly with a cotton ball to make it appear slightly fuzzy. To make it look a little more like rope, rub it with some brown chalk on a cotton ball.
